Yosemite National Park Sure Is A Sight To Behold

As rock climbers Kevin Jorgeson and Tommy Caldwell attempted to make history while climbing the nearly 3,000-foot-high Dawn Wall of El Capitan, all eyes were turned to Yosemite National Park. The two finished the record-setting climb on Wednesday after starting their ascent on Dec. 27.

But if you're not ready to tackle the Dawn Wall just yet, the park holds wonders for both the thrill-seeking and the novice traveler alike. The Department of the Interior put together this stunning list of some of the most striking vistas visitors can witness in Yosemite, which is open year round and turns 125 later this year.

Take a look at the photographs below, many taken with just an iPhone, and follow along with the agency on Instagram @usinterior. Even though they're finished, you can keep up with Jorgeson and Caldwell and their upcoming adventures using the handles @tommycaldwell and @kjorgeson.

We're counting down our list of top 5 outdoor adventures to add to your #bucketlist in 2015. No. 4: Take in the view from the summit. Whether it's Mount McKinley in Denali #NationalPark, Sequoia’s Mount Whitney in #California or Washington’s Mount Rainier, our public lands protect some of the America’s tallest peaks. No matter how far it is to the summit, hiking a peak in a national park, #wildliferefuge or other public lands is great exercise -- and the stunning views of the area below are hard to pass up! Case in point, the hike to #GlacierPoint at #Yosemite (@yosemitenps) National Park in California. It overlooks the #YosemiteValley below, offering amazing views of #HalfDome. #Sunrise photo by Ethan Killian (www.sharetheexperience.org).

Happy 98th birthday to the National Park Service! We’re celebrating this week by highlighting some of the amazing wilderness managed by the National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (all bureaus within the Department of the Interior). Each day this week, we will post a photo of wilderness managed by the Department. Which ever photo gets the more shares and likes will be featured next week on the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Wilderness Act, which has protected millions of acres of America’s stunning lands. Our first photo comes from the Tuolumne Meadows Wilderness Center withinYosemite National Park. Photo: Sean Goebel (www.sharetheexperience.org)
