Dreamy Northern Lights and a slow-moving sunrise are beautiful on their own, so just imagine what happens they collide.
A new NASA video released on Feb. 5 (above) shows a breathtaking view from the International Space Station of an aurora aligning perfectly with a faint sunrise on Earth's horizon. The city lights seen whizzing by beneath the spectacular celestial show belong to Washington, D.C., Baltimore, New York City, and Boston, the Washington Post reported.
"All we need now are angels singing," NASA astronaut Barry Wilmore, one of the five crew members now aboard the ISS, wrote in the video's caption on Vine.
The Northern Lights, or aurora borealis, is a natural phenomenon caused by the interaction of charged particles from the sun with Earth's atmosphere and magnetic field. The result, of course, is simply amazing.
