Virgin America's New Flight Route Is A Match Made In Travel Heaven

This seems like a match made in air travel heaven.

For the first time ever, Virgin America, which was just voted the best airline in the U.S. by Condé Nast Traveler readers for the eighth year in a row, is flying to the Aloha State, home to what the same awards consider the best islands in America.

The airline celebrated its inaugural flight from San Francisco to Honolulu on Monday with plenty of Hawaii-themed fanfare. Virgin Group founder Sir Richard Branson looked positively tropical with his aloha shirt, lei, and entourage of smiling hula dancers.

Prices start at $199 each way, which is quite competitive for flights to Hawaii. Branson told Mashable he expects the new route to be successful quickly. "For West Coast Americans, Hawaii is where they want to escape," Branson said. "And I think the question is why we didn’t do it years ago."

The airline also plans to debut a flight route to Maui on December 3.

In 2014, more than 8.2 million people visited Hawaii, with over 3.2 million of them traveling from the west coast of the U.S.

You might be onto something, Sir Richard.

Fox Is Building A Theme Park Based On 'Titanic' In Dubai

What does one do at a "Titanic" theme park? Nude painting sessions, Celine Dion impersonations, Irish jig dance lessons?

Well get ready to freeze your a** off because Variety reports that in 2018, 20th Century Fox, in conjunction with Al Ahli Holding Group, is planning to introduce a new theme park in Dubai centered around some of its most beloved (and random) TV shows and movies.

In addition to the James Cameron classic, Dubai's 20th Century Fox World will feature rides and attractions inspired by "Sons of Anarchy," "Aliens," "The Simpsons," “Planet of the Apes” and "Ice Age."

Anyone who has yet to "let go" of their "Titanic" obsession might be in luck because it looks like Fox is going all out to make your DiCaprio dreams come true.

“We are working on creating an immersive experience that includes motion theater simulators and will allow you to experience what it was like to be on the Titanic in an exciting way,” said Jeffrey Godsick, president of Fox Consumer Products.

If you get tired of swimming for lifeboats, you can just hop over to Dubai's indoor ski resort with 22,500 square meters of indoor ski slopes. Yes, it's a thing.

Honestly, the characters from most of those TV shows and movies lived under a constant threat of danger and were pretty miserable most of the time, so we might skip this one.

Maybe we'll make the trip when a "Magic Mike" theme park comes to Dubai. Make it happen, Channing.

The Worst Day To Fly Isn't When You Think

You've probably long believed that the day before Thanksgiving is the worst day of the year to fly, or at least one of the worst days to fly. Right?

Wrong.

In fact, the day before Thanksgiving was only the 27th-worst day to fly in 2013, and there are a number of summer days that beat it out in terms of airport crowding. But one particularly terrible day has it beat by a LOT. (Hint: it's the other day right around Thanksgiving...)

If you haven't booked your holiday travel yet, do it now, and avoid both the day before and the Sunday after Thanksgiving if you can.

But don't sweat too much: Flights are cheaper on the whole this season, and that's one more thing to be thankful for.

2,186 Farting Sheep Force Plane To Make Emergency Landing

They couldn't blamee this one on the dog.

A Singapore Airlines jet was forced to make an emergency landing last month because of  2,186 flatulent sheep.

The Boeing 747-400 freighter plane was traveling from Sydney, Australia to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, but had to be diverted when a smoke alarm went off in a cargo bay, the Aviation Journal reports.

After the plane had made an emergency landing at an airport in Denpasar, Bali, investigators sniffed out the cause.

There was no smoke, fire nor heat in the bay.

Turns out, the gases from the farts and poop produced by 2,186 sheep sandwiched in the cargo bay set off the alarms, according to News.com.au.

Officials didn't have a cow about the stinky sheep.

Instead, they left the airport about 2.5 hours later and arrived at Kuala Lumpur 2.5 hours after that.

Here's Where You Can Find Paradise In Italy

By Luisa Taliento

RONCIGLIONE: OTIUM IN LAZIO

These age-old trees were admired by the likes of Jean-Michel Basquiat, Cy Twombly and Nick Cave. These are just a few of the artists who loved coming here to relax and visit the Igliori family, who bought this historic property in the 1920s. This is a small privilege that today the Relais Villa Lina offers those who love botanical tourism and creative leisure, on an estate of over 170 acres in the heart of the Tuscia area (tel. +39 0761 625303, relaisvillalina.com). It has four different gardens: the garden of scents to relax amid roses and honeysuckle, the Italian garden created by the architect Raffaello De Vico, the eighteenth- century historic one, and the energy garden created in 2009 by the owner Paola Igliori, with benches so you can sit down and tap into the positive energy of the flora. From the relais, a garden route leads to the gardens of the Ruspoli Castle of Vignanello, those of the Landriana, designed by Sir Russell Page and the secret Hortus Unicorni at Civita di Bagnoregio.

AMALFI: SILENCE AND LEMON TREES

You walk barefoot on the lawn to the terraces overlooking the sea. No one knows what’s above or below. The ancient terracing technique created vertical green labyrinths protected by hedges, cultivated gardens, and pergolas laden with oranges and lemons that glisten like natural lamps under the blue skies of Amalfi. Hotel Santa Caterina is a floral hotel that is essentially visible only from the sea, set in the rocky cliff overlooking the water (tel. +39 089 871012, hotelsantacaterina.it). The hotel has become famous for its legendary privacy. People disappear into this green maze of suites, villas and chalets, with a heated infinity edge pool. What remains is the atmosphere of the romantic garden.

SCLAFAGNI BAGNI: SICILIAN SCENTS

There are no spectacular backdrops, interplays of perspective, visual tricks. The Tenuta Regaleali, in the hills southeast of Palermo, is the pure essence of Sicily, and this is also why it is part of the “Great Italian Gardens” circuit.

You can explore it on foot, by bike or on horseback, filling your lungs with the scent of oregano from the Iblei Mountains, basil from the Madonie, jasmine and Banks’ roses. It’s hard to resist picking fruit from the fig, medlar and quince trees, or tasting the grapes along the geometric rows of vines owned by the Tasca d’Almerita family.

Intense days are the prelude to pure relaxation at the iconic farm, which is still productive, and when you wake up in the morning you’ll get a taste of what is done every day in a country garden (tel. + 39 0921 544011, tascadalmerita.it).
