You Should Visit Norway, If Only To Drive These Spectacular Roads

With beautiful ancient fortresses, stunning natural wonders and some of the happiest people around, Norway (aka the greatest place on Earth) is totally at the top of our must-see list this season. And while we can't wait to climb to Kjeragbolten and stay in a sleepy fishing town, the one thing we're really looking forward to is going for a drive. Yep, a drive.

You see, Norway has some of the most beautiful roads we've ever seen -- there are no less than 18 National Tourist Routes you can, and should, explore.

Since 18 is a lot for one trip, we've found the top five roads (and all the attractions they highlight) that you absolutely must see.

1. Take the road less "trolled" by...

Part of Norway's Golden Route, the Geiranger-Trollstigen Route has 11 breathtaking turns, beautiful mountains, and spectacular views of waterfalls along the way.

2. Explore Lofoten's beautiful fishing villages.

It's no secret that we're in LOVE with Lofoten, the world's most beautiful archipelago. And getting here -- by way of the Lofoten National Tourist Route -- is half the fun. This place is so picturesque, we don't blame you if you can't get back on the road again.

3. Drive the Atlantic Road to see the sea.

Regarded as one of the world's most beautiful coastal drives, the Atlantic Road is so beautiful, we almost don't want to make it to the sea. We might not, if we can't make it over this part of the drive that looks like it disappears into thin air.

4. Pass by Preikestolen on the Ryfylke National Route.

A beautiful church, waterfalls and even old zinc mines line the Ryfylke Route, and, if you're up for a quick detour, you can get a crazy photo opp at the famous cliff known to locals as Preikestolen.

5. Head to the Helgeland Coast to see both a glacier and islands.

The Helgeland Coast National Tourist Route pretty much has it all. As the longest of the National Routes, it has everything you'd want to see: views of the Seven Sisters, the UNESCO-protected Vega Archipelago, Mount Torghatten and a glacier along the way.
