Watch Volcano Calbuco's Fearsome Eruption In This Stunning Time-Lapse

In April, Chile's Calbuco volcano erupted for the first time since 1972 -- a fiery display that shot a roiling plume of smoke 40,000 feet into the air.

Now, nearly two months later, the filmmakers behind Timestorm Films have released a cinema-worthy time-lapse of Calbuco's spectacular eruption, capturing the hot ash cloud in high definition as the sunset casts it in a fiery glow of its own.

"This was for sure the most incredible show I've ever seen," filmmaker Martin Heck commented in a description accompanying the video on Timestorm's Vimeo page. "I think this is a one in a lifetime event and I am so happy that we were able to capture it in all its glory."
